PHOTO EXHIBITION: “Customs and traditions-Romanian identity” photo exhibition about: customs, traditions, traditional crafts, people and places in Transylvania. Images come from: Collaboration with Associations of professional photographers and the archive of the Museum of Ethnography. And also pictures from family albums.

A very special evening of Romanian food, music, art and performance
Romanian jazz musicians and singers will entertain you while you savour some specially selected food and drink from different regions of Romania. This unique experience will also be complemented by a celebration of Arts, Crafts and photography exhibited in the gallery space.
The event has been developed in a collaboration between the Creative Innovation Centre and local Romanian artists and businesses, to help celebrate their culture in our community. Everyone is welcome to come along and taste the delights of this amazing culture.
5 – 6.30pm VIP’s event – Romanian cakes and Palinka to celebrate the exhibition and showcase (with background music from Ana Maria with ‘New Landscapes’ project).
7.30– 8.30 Performance from Ana Maria with ‘New Landscapes’ project
Ana Maria (singer), Daniel Hosu (piano)and bassist Michael Acker ” perform New Landscapes, a body of work constantly in motion, in which the pianist Daniel Hosu and bassist Michael Acker explore the themes of the composition and arrangements inspired by folklore.
8.30 – 9.30 Felicia Cheia with Marian Bustiuc -Romanian artists singing traditional songs.
In 2013 Felicia recorded her first album called “dragu-mi sa cant la lume.” The music on this album is Romanian traditional folk. In 2014 she was invited to one of the biggest festivals in Transylvania called “festival vaii muresului “and festivalul masura oilor” where she was very successful. Following this Felicia received many invites to different TV Channels to promote this style of traditional music. The outfits she wears are Romanian traditional costume which are all handmade by her mother – a woman with a passion for embroidery and sewing, a love for art ,and a real artist in creating Romanian traditional costumes.
6th May 12 – 4pm Romanian craft workshop – Saturday
Bianca Timonea and Denisa Garaiacu – workshop for everyone making traditional bracelets, cards and other traditional objects.

13th May 2-4pm Romanian craft workshop
Interactive workshop reveals secrets of traditional folk culture! Workshops aimed at promoting craft traditions among the community around Taunton. Under the guidance of specialists, children are placed in a position of creators, trying to deepen the specific techniques of the ancient crafts, such as decorative motifs, painting on glass, glass decoration on fabrics. All of which rapidly result in a unique educational experience. With the children we also expect parents, grandparents, family friends and other interested public to attend.
