RESISTENZA !
Messina, 1943. War is raging…the Italian Resistance defend their lands…and their hearts.
Will Beatrice and Benedick ever fall in love?
Will Claudio and Hero ever marry? Resisting love though is only part of their troubles; Don John and his gang of early Mafiosi, driven by greed and jealousy, seek to undermine the sanctity of blood and the bonds of family. Meanwhile, the well meaning antics of the Watch cause an altogether more comic misrule…
The OSC makes a welcome return to Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, which we last produced in 2002, and is a natural successor to last year’s wondrous Love’s Labour’s Lost(Critics’ Choice, The Telegraph). The OSC have long been regarded as a cultural highlight of the Oxford summer, performing to thousands of returning local residents and delighting a broad audience of national and international visitors of all ages.

The Oxford Shakespeare Company will present “Much Ado About Nothing” in the walled garden of Poundisford Lodge near Taunton, on Saturday 26th August 2017. There will be a matinee and an evening show.
This will be a welcome return to the West Country For the OSC who in the past have performed in the garden of the Lamb & Flag in Blagdon Hill for a number of years until I sold the pub in 2016. We are delighted to welcome them back to perform in the open air, within the walled garden of Poundisford Lodge just down the road.
The Oxford Shakespeare Company has performed at some of the country’s finest locations such as Hampton Court, Kensington Palace and Kew Gardens and has a summer residency in Wadham College in Oxford. We are extremely fortunate to be able to welcome them back to this neck of the woods.
Outdoor theatre of the highest quality awaits. All you need to do is book a ticket, either with a two course stand up meal or without, and turn up on the day.
There will be a licensed bar available on site and seating is provided.
Food tickets will get you a plate of a mixed, dressed salad with coronation chicken (or vegetarian option of tomato and mozzarella) and a selection of artisan breads. Followed by a choice of desserts such as strawberries & cream or a chocolate mousse. Food may be available on the day but you are advised to book food with your ticket and pay the extra £5 in advance so we can ensure supply. Hence food tickets are listed as £25 per person as opposed to £20 for a standard ticket.
We have decided to keep the price as it was two years ago as we have for the food with no concessions, but children under 14 will be half price and children under 6 will be free. Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me, Mark Bond on 01823 337477 or 07881 827844.
There will be a matinee show at 2 pm and an evening show at 6.30 pm
Food pre-ordered can be taken before or after the show or during the 15 minute interval as you wish. Alternatively you may bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn!
The performance will be the last of the open air summer season for the cast and crew of Much Ado and we look forward to a glorious summers day in Somerset for their swansong.
