We are thrilled to have back with us The Oxford Shakespeare Company for their latest production: Love’s Labours Lost.
The Oxford Shakespeare Company will present “Love’s Labour’s Lost” in the garden of Poundisford Lodge near Taunton, on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th. There will be a matinee and an evening show on the Saturday and an evening show on Friday night.
This will be a welcome return to the West Country For the OSC who in the past have performed in the garden of the Lamb & Flag in Blagdon Hill for a number of years until I sold the pub in 2016. We are delighted to welcome them back to perform in the open air, within the garden of Poundisford Lodge just down the road and after their successful performance of “Much Ado About Nothing” here last year.
The show is once again directed by Nick Green and original music by Nick Lloyd Webber.
Synopsis: Love’s Labour’s Lost
Love’s Labour’s Lost
“A delightful staging of Shakespeare’s comedy…
Nicolas Green’s sharply paced and very funny production. A hoot!”
The Telegraph Critics’ Choice 2016
Young King Ferdinand is feeling a tad jaded. After being swept along by the hedonism of a childhood lived in the 1960s and now stumbling into 1970’s manhood he has decided that he and his wastrel cohorts may have had too much of a good thing…
So one morning-after-the-night-before he decrees – Enough! Time to set aside such wasteful antics. Time for them to get serious, to turn to a scholarly and chaste life, to forswear all non-academic pleasure, and of course to forswear women…
BUT how do we think their resolve will fare when a certain young Princess, with her own three feisty companions turns up for an audience with the King…
Watch with glee as four young men and some of Shakespeare’s most colourful comic characters trip over themselves not to mention their words, to find out whether four weary young women love them.
Or love them not…
The Oxford Shakespeare Company has performed at some of the country’s finest locations such as Hampton Court, Kensington Palace and Kew Gardens and has a summer residency in Wadham College in Oxford. We are extremely fortunate to be able to welcome them back to this neck of the woods.
Outdoor theatre of the highest quality awaits. All you need to do is book a ticket, either with a two course stand up meal or without, and turn up on the day.
There will be a licensed bar available on site and seating is provided.
Food tickets will get you a plate of a mixed, dressed salad with of tomato and mozzarella and a selection of artisan breads. Followed
by a choice of desserts such as strawberries & cream or a chocolate mousse. Food may be available on the day but you are advised to book food with your ticket and pay the extra £5 in advance so we can ensure supply. Hence food tickets are listed as £27 per person as opposed to £22 for a standard ticket.
