The Sunday Big Band is back… Following on from last winter’s hugely successful experiment…
Over the 6 months from November to next April, on the 3rd Sunday of the month, there is going to be one set from a 17 piece big band at lunchtime. Each month will be a different theme with different tunes.
This month’s theme is ‘Cool and Instrumental’
The Sunday Big Band sessions will kick off with a series of cool tunes like ‘Killer Joe’ by Benny Golson, maybe ‘Goodbye Pork Pie Hat’ by Charlie Mingus, or perhaps ‘Take 5’ by Dave Brubeck. This will be an all instrumental session. So there will be plenty of space for our soloists to tell you their side of the story.
Big Band Sundays
CICCIC have only got themselves a Big Band residency! How many places can you say that about?
The Sunday Big Band is a collaboration between different Big Band musicians. There is a jazz tradition of ‘workshopping’ tunes in public, but we are going to save you the workshopping and just bring you the good stuff.
