Chris personally visits the quarry at Portland Bill, Dorset and handpicks blocks of quarried stone. Finding a flawless block of stone by striking with a hammer to hear its ring. The higher the note, the quality of the stone.
Chris is a direct carver working quickly to remove stone he doesn’t want and slowing down as the form reveals itself. He does sometimes work from drawings but more often its an image and feel of the form within.
Al comes from a background in furniture making and wood turning. His current work makes use of the natural movement of green timber and is inspired by geological structures, landscape and organic forms
For many years Sue has enjoyed making Tiffany style lampshades and mirrors with elaborate glass overlays but also makes a range of large and small items such as panel lamps, clocks and sun catchers. Recently she has centred upon ‘painting with glass.’ ie. using glass to produce pictures usually with a flora or fauna theme.

Nine years ago Bern met someone who rekindled his passion for glass. He now has his own kiln and small studio, where he is developing some new techniques in free forming with clear glass and hand colouring. He firmly believes that everyone should have at least one personal piece of art that gives them pleasure and makes them smile!
