painting of a cafe and jazz sceneIntroduction

Pat’s figurative paintings are descriptive of actual events recreated from sketches and memory. e.g. Card Players and Conversation, the colour is used to enhance the mood of the subject. The people are engrossed and purposeful sharing a common interest.
In the still life paintings the objects are given importance by the interplay of light and shadow, as seen in Winter Light and Painters Corner. The paintings of familiar places such as Tower Lane and the Green House, Northbrook Lodge colour and pattern are explored with simplified shape and Texture.
