Cancelled – International Music Night – Rabi Gabi – Moravian Klezmer Music – Thurs 12th March
We apologise but this event has been cancelled due circumstances out of our control. We are looking for alternatives and will keep this page updated.
A unique chance to see and hear international folk music with our guests Rabi Gabi from Czech Moravian town of Uherské Hradiště.
Rabi Gabi play a crossover of Jewish style klezmer, Moravian gypsy music and Czech folk on traditional instruments including violin, clarinet and double bass but their main sound defining feature is the cimbál – the famed East European hammer dulcimer which had it’s origins amongst the travelling gypsy musicians of the 19th century and is now a cornerstone for a wide range of Slavic musical forms.
Rabi Gabi , who already feature two of Moravia’s best known soloists, violinist Stanislav Gabriel and clarinetist Evžen Uher will also be joined for this tour of England by singer Tereza Habartová.
What To Expect
As the music combines Jewish styles with Moravian gypsy folk you can guarantee there’s a danceabilty aspect to it…..but as it also draws on a Straussian tradition it’s also virtually classical in its melodic and harmonic content.
With the amazing acoustic’s of CICCIC’s candle lit Memorial Hall and licensed bar you are guaranteed a night of magical international music and a chance to be inspired by quality well-seasoned musicians.
