Worlds Unknown is an innovation and creative night of musical adventures mixing up cosmic funk, electronica, jazz and folk with:
- The Tim Hill Trio
- The Stargazers
- Leviathan Whispers
Worlds Unknown is an exciting evening of musical adventure and innovation. The evening features a heady mix of cosmic funk, electronica, English folk and jazz, all put together by local saxophonist Tim Hill and featuring his new trio, plus a bigger band The Stargazers as well as digital soundscapes and projected visuals. Playing tonight with some of Somerset and the South West’s most adventurous musicians.
Tim’s trio features two Bristol based musicians, the excellent young double bass player Dominic Lash and the great Tony Orrell on drums. The band plays new pieces by Tim Hill that combine strong acoustic grooves, evocative melodies and wild improvising as well spirituals by Albert Ayler and contemporary arrangements of English traditional music.
Tony Orrell is legend in Bristol music circles, a wonderful drummer who can range from free jazz to dub reggae. He is a regular drummer with Andy Shepard and has done sessions for Goldfrapp, Adrian Utley (Portishead) and the The Charles Hazlewood All Stars.
The evening ends cosmic high as members of the Big Noise, local guitar hero Ben Modley and the splendid tenor saxophonist Dan Pogorzelski join the trio for a psychedelic journey in tribute to the great cosmic band leader Sun Ra, mixing funk, space chants, free jazz, psychedelic solos and a whole lot more.
Truly an extraordinary experience for all who attend.
