Philip Barnes is a fine art graduate of the Royal College of Art and since 2014 he has been focused on making enigmatic paintings containing ‘Renaissance’ like symbolism.
He has exhibited in the UK and Europe in recent years but, like most artists, has been unable to exhibit since the start of 2020. During this period, Philip became fascinated by the birds he saw on his North Devon estuary walks and in his garden and began to experiment with different painting styles to depict birds and other animals.
The newer paintings contain many of the same stylistic and iconographic elements that his earlier paintings exhibited but focus more on the character and beauty of the birds.
Philip’s show will bring together old and new work much of it not exhibited previously and it will provide an opportunity for reflection.
Philip is heavily discounting his work to help raise funds for financing a future major exhibition so this show provides a great opportunity to own some fascinating work by a very interesting artist.
