“Cafe Square” a new and exciting quartet from the Southwest!
Introducing “Cafe Square” a fresh and captivating quartet / quintet from the Southwest that blends various musical styles. The band members each possess a rich background in music, which has inspired them to create a fusion of Cuban rhythms, Latin music, Funk Jazz, and Modern Jazz’s harmonic complexity.

“Cafe Square” repertoire includes not only original compositions but also some of the great contemporary classics by composers such as Chucho Valdes, Jao Donato, Oscar Hernandez, Pat Metheny or Steve Wonder.

As accomplished individual artists, we are thrilled to be a part of this new project and deeply committed to sharing our music with the world. With so much musical experience between us, we are excited to explore this new avenue of creativity and bring our unique sound to audiences everywhere.

The personnel of “Cafe Square” includes:

Milly Riquelme – Piano, Keyboard, Vocal
Milly is a Pianist and singer born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. She studied classical piano till grade 8 advance. Her degree is in Musicology with Honors from the Institute Superior of Arts (ISA) in Havana. Since 2006, Milly has collaborated as a Musical Director and pianist with Cuban Salsa and Latin bands in Havana since 2006. In 2007 Milly joined as a Pianist the popular band “Conexion Salsera”, and recorded an album in addition to collaborating with many other well-known Cuban Musicians that include both Nicolas Sirgado and Mayito Ribera, pillars of the popular Cuban and Latin jazz in Cuba. During 2007-2008, Milly toured as a pianist developing a special taste for jazz.

She has lived in the United Kingdom since 2009, collaborating with the guitarist Tom Toomey, and other musicians and Musical Directors, playing also in Musicals and collaborating with theatrical work. Also, as well as recording, writing and contributing to the album Gambia, a musical project that is supported by the charity ‘Music for Africa’.

Daniel Pogorzelski – Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Wind Synth

He is known among his friends for his passion for jazz music. Daniel fell in love with the genre many years ago. While residing in Poland, he took lessons from the renowned Polish saxophonist Piotr Baron and was simultaneously engaged in multiple fusion jazz projects and avant-garde experiments. Currently, he plays primarily with several projects, including, spiritual jazz, gospel, Cuban Jazz, Latin, and Fusion music. He also runs a highly successful woodwind repair business servicing many top end clients & from this point of view truly knows the intricacies & subtleties of the instrument.

Anthony Channer – Electric bass
Anthony Channer is a versatile bass player with over 18 years of performance and teaching experience. A graduate of BassTech London, he has played with artists such as Melanie Blatt (All Saints), Nerina Pallot, and Harry Mundy (Bear’s Den), and played along side Steve Forrest (Placebo). Comfortable across a wide range of styles, his playing is rooted in groove, feel, and musicality. He currently performs with the jazz/funk/fusion trio Juxter and brings a deep love for improvisation and ensemble playing to every project he joins.

Benjamin Modley – Percussion instruments
Benjamin is a guitar teacher and musician, specialising in South American music, guitar, congas and the flute.

Before starting his own business, Ben worked as chief guitar teacher at Strings N’ Things music.
While still managing a successful career tutoring thousands of guitar players of a wide range of ability and age, and also working as a musician and bandleader or many working bands, Ben works regularly with Sebastian Tesouro, performing some of the beautiful music and rhythms of Brazil, Cuba and Argentina.
