Featuring some familiar and much-loved faces from the Somerset jazz scene, Newton’s Toad bring something a little different to CICCIC for a wonderfully relaxed Sunday afternoon of live music.

The trio features Hywel Davies on melodica – an expressive instrument with a warm, characterful sound somewhere between an accordion and harmonica – alongside Richard Llewelyn on guitar and Adrian Smith on bass. Together they create an intimate, easy-going sound that is full of melody, rhythm and charm.

Their repertoire is wonderfully eclectic yet always accessible, taking audiences on a musical journey through classic jazz tunes from the 1920s and 1930s, traditional folk melodies, laid-back Bossa Novas, and even the occasional tango. Expect plenty of rhythmic swing, beautiful melodies and accomplished musicianship, all delivered with the relaxed chemistry of three experienced players who simply love making music together.

This is jazz to sit back and enjoy – sophisticated without being formal and entertaining without being overpowering. Whether you are a committed jazz lover or simply enjoy great live music in good company, Newton’s Toad provide the perfect soundtrack to a leisurely Sunday afternoon.
