Join the Fire River Poets at the Creative Innovation Centre (CICCIC) for poetry reading and socialising with other poets. Evenings start at 8.00 pm and finish around 10.00 pm. Break around 9.00 pm. Normally on the first Thursday of the month. Check the Fire River poets web page below for details. Readings have open floor sessions alongside the two sets by an invited guest poet; the poetry cafe has an initial set by a featured poet then read round by all poets present with informal discussion and debate throughout the evening.
After the inventions and surprises of the readings by James Turner and Tim King, Fire River Poets are delighted to welcome as our third guest for the year, Claire Williamson, who will read for us on Thursday 4 April 2019. Chairman of Fire River Poets, John Stuart, said ‘Claire is one of our most respected poets with a varied often challenging range of work. She will beguile you with drama, comedy and memory that you won’t forget.’
Members of Fire River Poets will also be reading during the evening and, as John is always at pains to point out “We always provide a platform for poets of all ages and levels of experience, so there will as usual be an open mic session during the evening for any poet who would like to come along and read. Poets who would like to take advantage of this opportunity should apply through the Contact Us page on the Fire River Poets website www.fireriverpoets.org.uk.”
Doors open at 7.30 pm. The reading begins at 8.00 pm and costs £5.00. Entry should be paid for at the door. Venue enquiries to 01823 337477.
