Folk, Latin & Bossa Sunday Daytime Music with Mel Reeves, Julie Meikle & Friends – Sun 23rd Mar

Be prepared to be taken on a journey of beautifully crafted songs and amazing musicianship with this exclusive Sunday daytime concert, where you will experience two different sets of music that will feed your soul and uplift your love of music.

The first set is mostly original music written by Mel Reeves and Julie Meikle, and from their first album ‘Sea Mist and Sunlight’, which are largely folk songs about the natural and unnatural world, inspired by the beauty of Somerset’s rich and diverse landscape, with hints of ‘The Lost Words Blessings’ albums.

The second set will be a sneak preview of our forthcoming album of new songs with a little bit of Latin sunshine, including the award-winning song “Time, If only”, winner of the Talent is Timeless Global song writing competition.

Julie & Mel work with a variety of very talented musicians, including Hannah Earl, Molly Meikle, Jon Dyer, Marcus Osborne and others. Into the mixing pot they throw outstanding guitar playing, vocals with uplifting harmonies, double bass, bass clarinet and drums.

Mel Reeves is a highly experienced musician, author and video producer. Mel largely plays finger style guitar with some light jazz harmonies, drawing influences from the blues to folk to American singer song writers.

Julie Meikle draws on her love of folk music, relaxed jazz and her joy of singing. Julie has worked alongside Molly Meikle and Hannah Earl for many years, developing beautiful blended harmonies.
