Brought to you by CICCIC and Genius Events (the people who bring you Stand Up for Cider) this bi-monthly comedy club will exercise your chuckle muscles and deliver a great night out at CICCIC’s amazing Memorial Hall.
You’ll get the chance to see 4 professional comedians on the night along with some amazing talent from known comedians. It will be unadulterated, full of surprise and have you laughing all the way through the weekend.

Headline Act – James Dowdeswell
James headlines comedy clubs around the UK and is also highly sought after as an MC. His comedy is erudite, off the cuff and clean. He has worked all over the world from Shanghai to Slovakia, Malta to Melbourne. He turned professional after winning the Jongleurs New Act Of The Year Award in 2000.
Dowdeswell has appeared on numerous TV shows including Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC) and Extras (BBC) where he played the Count in the David Bowie episode. He also presented World Cup Round Up for Sky Sports.
James is the author of The Pub Manifesto: A Comedian Stands Up For Pubs. This was published by CAMRA Books in November 2018. It was nominated for The Guild Of British Beer Writers Award for The Long Live The Local Award for Best Book On Pubs 2019. It was name-checked as one of the best Christmas books by a comedian in The London Evening Standard.
However, Dowdeswell is also very passionate about the world of wine. His first vintage, “Wine” hit the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007, followed by a run in Australia at Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth Fringe. His latest incarnation, “Sips And Giggles” is about to be decanted at the prestigious Chapel Down Winery, followed by a mini wine tour.”
Middle Act – Alf
In 2016 Alf made it through to the ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ finals in Edinburgh. In 2017 he performed in the Comedy Gladiators Grand Final at Riproar in Bristol, as well as that he won the Standup for Cider competition in Somerset!
He won the Bedminster Comedians on the Run competition and came 2nd in Frome Comedian of the Year. In 2018 he auditioned for Britains Got Talent at the London Palladium and received a Standing Ovation from the Judges and the Audience.
In 2019 he was a finalist in the UK Pun Championships and the World One Liner Championships. In 2021 he released a Joke book, which is available on Amazon and was also a Semi Finalist in British Comedian of the Year. In 2022 he came runner up in the South Coast Comedian of the Year grand final. “A Very Funny Guy” ~ David Walliams “Brilliant” ~ Aleisha Dixon “Really Silly” ~ Amanda Holden and once described by Jethro as “Utter Chaos”
Opening Act –Lenny Sherman
Lenny Sherman is a comedian, actor and lovable Cockney geezer.
In the world of stand-up he’s a comedy circuit veteran performing gigs since 2010 for Downstairs At The Kings Head, Top Secret, Comedy Unleashed, Comedy Hotspot, Always Be Comedy, Glee, Off The Kerb and numerous other clubs around the UK and abroad in countries such as France, Greece and Turkey.
Lenny made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2018 with Make The World a Better Place at Just The Tonic and returned in 2019 with his follow up show Have Fun. He’s been tour support for Jerry Sadowitz and Clinton Baptiste and recently one of his stand up clips went viral notching up over a million views!
As an actor he’s soon to be seen in a major streamer show, Lenny most recently appeared in The Stand Up Sketch Show for ITVX and appeared alongside Ant and Dec in several series of Saturday Night Takeaway for ITV, and in Late Night Mash for Dave.
He has also performed in the Channel 4 satirical comedy show Ministry of Justice, played Alex in BBC’s Eastenders and has appeared in four different sketches for BBC Three Quickies Online, along with multiple other web series.
MC – Lori Smith
Lori Smith is a sharp-tongued, big-energy comedian and MC whose mix of unfiltered honesty and quick-fire crowd work has made her a standout across the UK circuit.
Former beauty-salon boss turned chaos-loving comic, Lori blends real-life grit with glam-side gossip, serving punchlines that are bold, cheeky, and instantly relatable. She’s the creator of Chuckle F*ckers Comedy and co-host of What’s the Story Paul & Lori, bringing the same warm, fearless, “say what everyone’s thinking” charm to every stage she hosts. Expect charisma, killer improvisation, and the kind of fun-as-hell atmosphere only Lori can create
