If so, then you can help reduce costs associated with keeping our doors open and be part of the wider community. Plus, giving your time for our not-for-profit organisation can make a big impact on our future survival.
Why We Need Your Skills & Experience
Due to financial constraints, we can’t always pay for professionals to help maintain our building. Our staff of just 3 people are also busy with more pressing daily duties and don’t have the time to maintain our community venue.
So, if you are retired or simply have a few hours to spare and have a particular skill set and can volunteer your time we’d love to have your assistance.
Volunteer Jobs You Can Help With
Some of the volunteering jobs are one-offs and others are more simple and semi-regular. We will provide the materials where needed and all volunteers get free refreshment and the odd invitation to attend an event for free. Look below and let us know if you can help:
- Occasional exhibition ushers – Sometimes we need volunteers to look after the building during exhibition times. This is by no means strenuous and simply requires you to switch some lights on, sit, chill and read, and simply greet anyone, and possibly close up. Full instruction given.
- Painting & Decorating – This can be done in 2-hour intervals over several weeks and does not require you to be a professional decorator but just have some experience. You’ll potter around the place painting certain areas with white paint to keep everything looking fresh. We will provide paint and brushes.
- Carpentry – We have a couple of small jobs that needs someone with carpentry skills to help us build some boxing to cover some pipes and help secure and maintain some exhibition boards. These are one-off jobs and should not need repeating.
- Plastering – There are small areas of the building between foot and head height that need replastering. These small jobs could be done in 2-4 hours. If you can help let us know.
- Silicone & Sealant – We require someone who is good at removing silicone and resealing around our hand basins with new sealant in the toilets. Can you help? Get in touch.
- Plumbing – We have a minor issue with the auto-flushing unit within the men’s urinals and it could just take 30 minutes for someone to fix, which could save us call out charges, so if you can help let us know.
- Garden Clearing – There are areas of our back garden and some at the front that needs clearing, pruning, and making good. Its probably a half day job and ideal for 2 or 3 people working together.
- Cleaning – We clean CICCIC every week but there are some areas that do not get cleaned. If you have an eye for making good certain areas, then we would love to hear from you. This would be one-off cleans but would help reduce the cost of outsourcing these aspects.
