Spring term 8th Jan – 19th March Thursdays 1-4pm at the ArtsHub ( Half term 19th Feb )
This course is an introduction to a selection of drawing techniques and mediums through experiment, observation and play while working towards personal development. Along the way we look at artists both historic and contemporary that are relevant to our projects. There is room for both novice artists and those who have been practicing for years. It is a warm and fun environment and everyone is welcome.
The course has been designed by Liz Gregory, a local professional artist
Liz Gregory is a painter and printmaker based in the Blackdown Hills on the Devon/Somerset border, with a fine art degree from Birmingham College of Art. Her work stems from her immediate environment, and everyday and overlooked objects. Surrounded by farms Liz has a particular interest in the way farms in the Blackdown Hills have changed over the last fifty years. Liz’s work is vibrant and lively, having a love of strong and bright colours. She has exhibited widely through the south west, been selected for the RWA, Mall Galleries & Thelma Hulbert and has been awarded several bursaries over the years from SAW and been part of several successful art council bids. She has taken part in many local exhibitions, including Tractored by Beetles at the Somerset Rural Life Museum this summer, at which was displayed Torn, a meticulous drawing of a discarded piece of bailer wrap 6.7m x 2.3m that took six and a half years to produce. She has been teaching for over 30 years, but most recently has worked primarily for Spaeda and SAW. She started teaching at CICCIC in September 2025.
