It is with a heavy heart that directors at the beloved arts venue CICCIC in Taunton, are warning it could face closure within 12 months due to a considerable funding gap. The Creative Innovation Centre CIC; also known as CICCIC (kick-kick); a not-for-profit Community Interest Company and social enterprise in Paul Street, which has been praised as a “safe space for people to go to”, could close its doors for good if it doesn’t get support from the local community and the council. Many of you will know that CICCIC also operates the Arts Hub at Flook House in Belvedere Road Taunton, and a large-scale version of the Arts Hub logo on the side of building was revealed last week. The logo designed by CICCIC director Andrew Knutt, but remastered and hand painted by local mural experts Aerosol Art, was funded by a grant that its partners GoCreate were successful in securing for Arts Hub. Creative Innovation Centre (CICCIC) is pleased to announce that it now operates a second building in Taunton for arts and culture. With financial support from Somerset West and Taunton (SWT) Council CICCIC has revived one of Taunton’s 17th Century Manor Houses by repurposing it as a new Arts Hub for cultural and creative activities. The building, known as Flook House in Belvedere Road, will provide office and studio space for creative organisations and practitioners, as well as a conference-ready meeting room for community-based programmes, workshops and vocational learning. On Tuesday 16th December members of Taunton Choral Society will be performing Christmas music at CICCIC with an accent on celebration and participation, including a world premier of a new Christmas song! Guest conductor Julian Breeze will lead the choir and audience in a mixture of traditional Christmas songs and carols, all accompanied by a six-piece instrumental ensemble.
