Join the Fire River Poets at the Creative Innovation Centre (CICCIC) for poetry reading and socialising with other poets. Evenings start at 8.00 pm and finish around 10.00 pm. Break around 9.00 pm. Normally on the first Thursday of the month. Check the Fire River poets web page below for details. Readings have open floor sessions alongside the two sets by an invited guest poet; the poetry cafe has an initial set by a featured poet then read round by all poets present with informal discussion and debate throughout the evening.
Thursday 7th March
After the subtle approach to the natural world of our second event of 2019, Fire River Poets are delighted to welcome our guests for March, James Turner and Tim King, who will read for us on Thursday 7 March 2019. James and Tim are both well known figures on the poetry circuit in the South West. Chairman of Fire River Poets, John Stuart, said “James and Tim show us different aspects of the poet’s approach to life. James: quiet, ironic, controlled; Tim: loud, emotional, full of feeling.” We are guaranteed an evening to savour – and remember.
Members of Fire River Poets will also be reading during the evening and, as John is always at pains to point out “We always provide a platform for poets of all ages and levels of experience, so there will as usual be an open mic session during the evening for any poet who would like to come along and read. Poets who would like to take advantage of this opportunity should apply through the Contact Us page on the Fire River Poets website
Doors open at 7.30 pm. The reading begins at 8.00 pm and costs £5.00. Entry should be paid for at the door. Venue enquiries to 01823 337477.
Ideal for poets and poetry lovers. Guest poets and some performance poetry from time to time.
