About Luis Martelo
Luis Martelo is a Portuguese Trumpet Player based in Taunton, and with his Global Music Awards in 2023, a prize equivalent to the Grammys for independent musicians. Also in 2020 he was nominated by the Cinderella awards to the Best theatre musicians. Luis started his career at the Portuguese Army Symphonic Band, recorded for a lot of famous artists in Portugal and the UK including soundtracks for Hollywood movies.
About the show:
‘Roots’ is a show full of memories, dance and great feelings from the past. Around the world and all the gold music era, Luis goes from Louis Armstrong with Hello Dolly, Glen Miller, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, to the latin feelings of Sway, Besame Mucho, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps, Harry James with It’s been a long long time, to Astor Piazzolla’s tango in Argentina, to Tom Jobim’s bossa nova in Brazil, to the Portuguese world famous Fado, Elvis Presley, Queen, Beatles and many more, and of course Luis’ own original music also within the same styles and quality. One guarantee is that you won’t stop singing and tapping your feet, and yes maybe crying a bit too with some happy memories, just don’t let them see it.
