Four masters of the guitar will make a wonderful sound in our intimate West Country venues.

The MĒLA GUITAR QUARTET have performed all over the UK and individually have worked with many different groups. They have
recorded the works of Stephen Dodgson and Anthony Burgess in 2016 and 2017.

Recently they became Park Lane Group artists and received the IGF Young Artists Award in 2016.

The Mēla guitar quartet brings together four exceptional guitarists who play with an “exalted level of perfection” (naxos.com).

Since being International Guitar Foundation young artists in 2016 they have gone on to release a CD of the guitar chamber works of Stephen Dodgson with NAXOS in 2017 and are Park Lane Group young artists for the 2018/19 season.

Known for their “benchmark performances” (Mark Houghton), the Mēla guitar quartet’s “musicianship makes you forget that you are listening to four guitars and carries you to a different sound world” (Thérèse Wassily Saba, Gendai Guitar magazine), their playing “shines, shimmers with sparkling clarity, what’s more, they play from memory and make pieces their own; wonderful music making!” (Phillip Houghton)

They have performed in venues such as St. James’ Church, Piccadilly; Kings Place, Hall one; Milton Court, Barbican; International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Manchester and Jimi Hendrix’s bedroom (!), at the HandelHendrix House.

Visit their website www.melagq.com to find out about their upcoming projects.

The quartet play guitars by master luthier Michael Gee.
