——————————————–

Doors 7.30pm. Starts 8.00pm. Tickets £10.

Join us for an amazing and creative evening of music, sound and visuals as Mosaic of Sound and Vision take you on a musical journey of a historic rescue of church organ pipes and how 14 artists/musicians creatively used then to develop a wide range of music and sound.

About Mosaic Pipe Project

Church organ pipes were removed from a Devon Church to reveal a stained-glass window. But these pipes were destined to be scrapped and Mosaic of Sound and Vision wanted to reuse these historic pipes and thought it would be interesting to see what other creative people could create using these pipes.

With no funding and no budget the project obtained the pipes for free and asked that pipers:

Create, transform, reuse the pipe, nothing is ruled out, and try not to discuss ideas with other pipe folk so we all can be surprised at an exhibition and a pipe gathering concert.

The Concert

This is also an opportunity for the public and all pipers to gather to meet and see each other’s creations, and with an array of professional creatives this will surely be adventure for audience and players alike.

1st half:  A series of short original musical compositions inspired by sound stimulus (taken from the pipes), visual stimulus (taken from the stained glass windows), contextual stimulus (taken form the history of the church).

2nd half: Spotlight illuminates each pipe in turn – musicians create a soundscape in dynamic response to what they see.

The sound palette will be rich and varied and the instrumentation will be spectacular: harp, double bass, hang drum, saw, mandolin, sousaphone, percussion, guitar, effects pedal, trumpet and an assortment of wind instruments large and small including alto flute and bass clarinet.

Musicians participating:

  • Jo Meikle
  • Jules Bushell
  • Tom Francombe
  • Charlie Hearnshaw
  • Maxine Green
  • Louise Lawrence
  • Su Mo
  • Shirley Screech
  • Richard Steward
  • Ross Dhillon
  • Hazel Prior
  • Joe Porter
  • Fox Willow Trio
