Pete Canter Trio
Pete Canter is a highly accomplished jazz saxophonist and flautist. His jazz repertoire draws upon swing, bebop and latin jazz standards as well as his own original music. He first played on the 1980s London jazz scene, then in Wales during the 1990s, before moving to the Southwest in 2001.
He has established himself on the local jazz scene and further afield as a fine player, composer and band leader. He has been responsible for a string of creative projects. Pete has recorded several well received jazz albums and has played at major U.K. festivals including Cheltenham and Teignmouth Jazz Festivals. Pete hosts a thriving monthly jazz session at The Mermaid in Exeter.
On this gig Pete will be playing well known and accessible jazz standards on flute, alto flute and saxophone. He will be accompanied by an excellent pianist and double bass player. Expect great melodies and soaring improvisation delivered with a compelling jazz groove. Quotes about Pete Canter:
