Creative Methodologies Workshop at the Arthub – Autumn term 11th Sept – 11th Dec Fridays 1-4pm
12-week contemporary art course
This 12-week course explores drawing, painting, and printmaking through experimentation and contemporary studio practice. Starting with observation, you will develop your work through materials, processes, and ideas that move beyond traditional approaches.
What you will explore
The course is split into two 6-week blocks. The first builds observational skills alongside experimentation. The second focuses on developing more idea-led work, combining drawing, painting, and print in response to contemporary themes such as identity, systems, space, and image-making.
You will also look at international contemporary artists who use drawing and observation as a core part of their practice, including Julie Mehretu, William Kentridge, Wangechi Mutu, Xu Bing, and Gabriel Orozco.
Block 1 (Weeks 1–6): Observation & experimentation
