Painting and Drawing Classes – Friday Mornings Autumn term 9.30am-12.30pm 11th Sept – 11th Dec (6 or 12 Week programme ) Half term 23rd, 30th Oct
This is a slightly more experimental course, though we will also go back to basics for a few weeks looking at drawing, composition and tone. We will continue to develop a variety of ways to make marks and respond to subjects in unconventional ways. We will revisist some of the basic painting exercises we carried out last year, exploring colour and colour mixing. Using still life as a starting point, you will develop a final piece building on the skills developed during the term. No previous experience is necessary, and we have welcomed several beginners over the last year. They have thrived in the welcoming atmoshphere from their fellow students, however, the course also caters for those who want to build and develop their skills and extend their knowledge and abilities.
There will be a mixture of both experimental and abstract ways to make art alongside more traditional methods, referring to well known artists as we go. It is an informal and very welcoming group. Learning how to build a picture from different elements, using a wide variety of materials and different ways to respond to a subject.
